Bâtonnière of Quebec from 2021 to 2025, Catherine Claveau Joins Latitude as Partner

Latitude, a firm specializing in the prevention and management of harassment, discrimination, and violence in the workplace, is proud to announce that Catherine Claveau is joining the firm as a partner. Serving as Bâtonnière of Quebec until June 2025, Ms. Claveau has established herself as a key figure in Quebec’s legal community, which she has represented both nationally and internationally.

Specializing in labour law, she is an accredited investigator and mediator who assists organizations in preventing and managing harassment, ensuring legal compliance and promoting respectful work environments. Co-author of the Guide des meilleures pratiques à l’intention des avocats menant des enquêtes sur des plaintes de harcèlement en milieu de travail (Guide to Best Practices for Lawyers Investigating Complaints of Harassment in the Workplace), published by the Barreau du Québec and recognized as an essential reference, Ms. Claveau is also a Certified Corporate Administrator (ASC). This dual expertise illustrates both her mastery of workplace investigations and her ability to strategically address governance issues.

Originally from Chicoutimi, she practiced law for several years in Quebec City, where she co-founded a boutique law firm and served as Bâtonnière of the Barreau de Québec (2015–2016). She was then elected administrator of the Barreau du Québec (2017–2021) and continued her involvement until her election as Bâtonnière of Quebec for two consecutive terms (2021–2025) in Montreal. This journey has enabled her to develop a deep understanding of regional realities and the diversity of legal environments across Quebec. Throughout her career, she has also distinguished herself through initiatives aimed at promoting mental health and work-life balance in the legal profession. She is also recognized for her commitment to the next generation, which has led her to conduct an annual tour of law schools over the past four years, focusing on students’ psychological well-being and work-life balance.

Anaïs Lacroix, co-founding partner and CEO of Latitude, emphasizes the significance of this hire:

The arrival of Ms. Claveau as a partner demonstrates Latitude’s commitment to excellence. Her experience as Bâtonnière of Quebec, her credibility, and her commitment to the profession strengthen our mission: to support organizations with rigour, neutrality, and humanity.

Ms. Claveau adds:

I am very pleased to be joining Latitude. We share a common ambition: to help foster respectful and inclusive work environments. I am deeply committed to putting my experience and energy toward this mission.

With this announcement, Latitude has reached a new stage in its growth and reaffirms its leadership role in the prevention and management of harassment and discrimination in Quebec and beyond.
